She's So Sad She's Smiling

He tells her that he loves her, cuz that's what she wants to hear
Enticing with a plastic smile, his empty words keep her near
She knows he doesn't love her, but likes the way he makes her feel
So she closes her eyes and prays for change, and hopes tomorrow it won't be real

She can't wait for him to love her
But she can't stand to see him go
So she dreams about another
While she smiles for him and puts on a show
She's forgotten there's more to life than crying
She's so sad that she's smiling

Her friends tell her to leave him, But they don't know her biggest fears
No one knows the bag's hidden in her car, she's been packed the last 2 years
She's been behind the wheel for hours, but has barely made it down the street
All she knows is his prison, She's trapped like Brooks when she's set free

She can't wait for him to love her
But she can't stand to see him go
So she dreams about another
While she smiles for him and puts on a show
She's forgotten there's more to life than crying
She's so sad that she's smiling

Maybe one day she'll walk away
But tonight's another night she'll choose to stay
